Beer Soaked Bratwurst
Skinny Cooks

Ingredients:
As many bratwurst as you think it will take to feed your crowd Beer, enough to cover the brats Sliced onions Sliced green bell pepper Buns for the sandwiches

Instructions:
It’s important that you stab the heck out of the bratwurst with a fork before you begin to cook. This will let the grease run out of the bratwurst as it gets hot and melted, giving you a nice solid brat which is pleasing to the bite. As the melted grease runs out of the bratwurst, it will rise to the top of the pot. This will automatically help the hot beer migrate to the inside of each brat, adding its flavor to the seasoned meat. If time is of the essence, cook the brats in the beer for 3 hours with the Crock Pot on high. If you have more time you can cook them all day on low. Be sure to put the lid on the Crock Pot and leave it there; don’t be removing the lid to check the progress. Slice your onions and green bell pepper and sauté them in vegetable oil to which you’ve added some butter. Sauté until the onions are translucent and the pepper slices are soft. Place the sautéed veggies into a double wrapping of aluminum foil or into a foil pan for transportation to the picnic site. When you get there, fire up your charcoal or gas grill. Set the foil package of veggies on the edge of the grill to heat through. Put the brats over the heat of the grill to heat them through and to add some smoky flavor. Make the sandwiches and load each one with some of the onions and bell pepper. Be sure to take a big supply of these beer-soaked brats because everyone will eat more than their usual amount. They’re scrumptious – and you’ll be well ready to let the fireworks begin.
