EAST LANSING, Mich. — Harnessing the power of wind energy is becoming more and more popular and during this year’s Ag Expo, Steve Harsh will cover the basics of small and large scale wind energy.
Harsh, a professor in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics at Michigan State University, will present new research data and updates on energy policy at 10 a.m. July 20, in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) tent during Ag Expo. Last year, Harsh’s presentations were standing-room-only.
“We need to think about our energy future and wind power will be a critical part of meeting the energy needs for America,” he said. “You need to know more about what it can do for you.”
Harsh’s presentation will cover U.S. energy policy, key factors on whether wind makes sense and the economics of small and large scale wind energy.
He joined the MSU faculty in 1968, and has studied many things in addition to wind power, including strategic planning of dairy operations, computerized information systems and the information needs of agriculture producers. In addition to his research, he teaches and does outreach work with Michigan State University extension.
Ag Expo features commercial farm equipment from throughout the Midwest and several Canadian provinces on a 35-acre main exhibition site. It features demonstrations and educational exhibits from several MSU colleges and departments. Ag Expo is sponsored by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. |
