Indiana farm sold for more than $3 million at auction
LIBERTY, Ind. — Auctioneer Terry Abernathy of Abernathy Auction & Real Estate Co. recently celebrated the first anniversary of the company’s auction facility in Liberty, Ind. with an auction April 1.

With a crowd of more than 250 people, Abernathy sold a 511-acre farm, offered in eight tracts, to five area farmers for a total of $3.029 million.

The acreage is in the Indiana counties of Union and Franklin.

Tract 1 sold for $490,000 and included 90 acres of mostly tillable land.

Tract 2 sold for $475,000 and consisted of 79.5 acres of mostly tillable land and three barns.

Tracts 3, 4 and five sold for $1.226 million. Tract 3 included five acres with a home and grain facility. Tract 4 included 75.798 acres of land. Tract 5 consisted of 78 acres of mostly tillable land.

Tract 6 sold for $383,000 and included 66.75 acres of mostly tillable land.

Tract 7 consisted of 108.91 acres of mostly tillable land and sold for $405,000.

Tract 8 sold for $55,000 and included 10.98 acres with 10 acres tillable.

The Abernathy Auction Facility includes a 56-foot by 105-foot auction space, an office and working kitchen. It is also wired for online auctions and has a 30-foot pad on the back for a warehouse.

Northern Indiana land sold at auction
STOCKWELL, Ind. — On March 28, Halderman Real Estate Services, Inc. sold about 40 acres of land in Tippecanoe County for a total of $206,000.

The land, which sold in two parcels at auction, included farmland, a rural home and barn just south of Stockwell, Ind.

Parcel A included 38.05 acres (nearly all tillable) and sold to a local farmer for $136,000 of $3,574 per acre.

Parcel B included a 1,680 sq. ft. house and 28-foot by 44-foot barn on 1.22 acres and sold for $70,000 to a local investor.
