ILLINOIS
Aug. 19: 54th-annual Agronomy Day at the University of Illinois will be an ideal venue for farmers, industry leaders, gardeners and the general public to find out about research in crop science and horticulture at the U of I. The event will take place at the Crop Sciences Research and Education Center in Urbana, Ill. Sept. 22: University of Illinois Extension is sponsoring a tour of Bruce Curry’s 80-acre agritourism business Country Corner in Alpha, Ill. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit http://www.country-cor ner.com to learn more about the business. A fee of $20 per person will be charged for each tour, which includes lunch. Two adults pay $30 when registered together, and children under 10 attend free. Register at least one week in advance. INDIANA
Aug. 18:
Attendance is welcome at the Shoup’s Backyard BBQ Contest, which will award $2,000 in cash and prizes during the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis, Ind.

Aug. 19: Purdue Extension will offer a risk management course to farm women in Franklin, Kosciusko, Wayne/Union and Perry counties. Franklin, Kosciusko and Wayne/Union counties will offer their courses from 1-4 p.m., and Perry County from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Project locations are decided by each county Extension office.
