Mercer County in Ohio retained its No. 1 spot in agricultural cash receipts, with Darke County coming in second and Wayne County placing third. Cash receipts are from livestock, crops and government payments. Cash receipts totaled $3.9 billion for the entire state, an increase of 9 percent from the previous year.

Hoosier Hereford producers have done something that many in the cattle industry might find hard to believe; They put aside their differences and merged the Indiana Horned Hereford Assoc. and the Indiana Polled Hereford Assoc. to form the Indiana Hereford Assoc.

Soybean diseases in Ohio have increased in number and severity over the past 10 years, so that today the loss of productivity is greater from disease than from any other factor except weather. The increase in disease pressure is due primarily to short crop rotations or no crop rotation.
