Informational seminars offered at the Indiana-Illinois Farm Show
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A series of Farm Forums, focusing on timely topics for Midwest farmers, start at 11 a.m. each day of the Indiana-Illinois Farm and Outdoor Power Equipment Show, Dec. 13-15 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Brownfield Radio Network is the sponsor of the Farm Forums.

Brownfield Farm Broadcaster Gary Truitt will moderate the forums, which take place at the west end of the show floor. The seminars are free and open to all farm show visitors.

“The focus opening day is on energy, the subject at the top of everyone’s worry list,” said Truitt. “Managing costs will make the difference between profit and loss in 2006.”

Tuesday’s forum - “How to Manage Energy and Input Costs” - features Alan Miller, farm management specialist at Purdue University, and a representative from the Indiana Ethanol and Bio-fuels industry. This session focuses on how to manage energy and input cost to make the most from a crop.

Indiana Lt. Governor Becky Skillman takes the stage on Wednesday morning with Bob Kraft, legislative director for the Indiana Farm Bureau, to talk about “Why Agriculture is Important to Indiana.”

Skillman, who is also the state’s Secretary of Agriculture, will outline the goals of state government in the coming year, and Kraft will preview the legislative agenda of the Indiana Farm Bureau and discuss property taxes, property rights and the state corn checkoff.

“This will give farmers a face-to-face opportunity to discuss farm problems with the Lt. Governor,” said Truitt.

Wrapping up the Farm Forums on Thursday, Truitt hosts “Market Outlooks.” Panelists include David Kohli from Ford and Young Futures and Jim Riley with Riley Trading.

The market analysts are going to outline the futures market and present practical forecasts of price trends and market strategies. For more information about the Farm Forum seminars, visit Brownfield’s website at www.brownfieldagnews.com
