Clay Co. land auction Nov. 17

CLAY CITY, Ill. — Approximately 760 acres of Clay County, Ill., farmland – most of it tillable – will sell at auction Monday, Nov. 17, with Murray Wise Associates marketing the property and managing the sale.
“When you look at the big picture – the 730 acres of tillable land, a move-in ready home, the 100,000-bushel dry grain storage and 13,000-bushel wet bin and dryer – this is one of the best opportunities we’ve seen in this part of Illinois in many years,” said Kenny Schum, auction manager.
“With 16 tracts, area farmers will be able to bid on just the amount of property that suits their needs. For example, some might wish to buy a tract or two to add to their existing operations. But we may have other bidders seeking the entirety for operational or investment purposes. You just never know until auction day.”
The property is located three miles east of Flora and north of Highway 50, with most of the tillable land along Indigo Lane, both north and south of CSXT Railroad.
The auction will begin at 5 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Clay City Community Building, 237 S. 2nd St. SE, Clay City. Auction personnel will be available at the home to provide detailed information Friday, Oct. 24 (4-6 p.m.), and Thursday, Oct. 30 (11 a.m.-1 p.m.).
