Erica Trittan Widmer
 
May 11, 1978-July 28, 2017
 
Erica Trittan Widmer, 39, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Erica was born in Fort Wayne on May 11, 1978. She was a graduate of Angola High School. She then earned her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and her master’s degree from Purdue University. She married Jim Widmer on July 5, 2008, in Fort Wayne.
 
Erica worked for Purdue University as the extension educator for Jay County. As part of her duties, she was in charge of the 4-H program in Jay County.
 
Her main passion was being a color guard designer and director for several area high schools. Her work helped earn several state championships over the years. She was proud to serve as a board member on the Indiana High School Color Guard Assoc.
 
Survivors include her husband, Jim Widmer, of Fort Wayne; father, Larry Hindman, of Pleasant Lake; mother, Tammy Hindman, of Auburn; aunt, Holly Fenton, of Hastings, Minn.; her uncle, Wes Hindman, of Pleasant Lake; and father-in-law, George Widmer, of Fort Wayne.
 
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Joan Hindman, and mother-in-law, Kathleen Widmer.
 
Visitation was August 3 at Saint Joseph United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne, and prior to the funeral service on August 4, also at the church. Officiating the funeral service was Pastor Jason Morris. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Waterloo.
