Robert ‘Bob’ Morgan

June 6, 1935-February 25, 2018

Robert “Bob” Morgan, 82 of Rush County, Ind., passed away on Feb. 25, 2018, in New Castle. He was born on June 6, 1935, in Rush County to the late John and Mary (Roberts) Morgan.

Bob was a 1953 graduate of Mays High School and went on to Purdue University for some college. He married Shirley (Ferguson) Morgan on August 13, 1955, and she survives. Bob was a lifetime member of Center Christian Church. He was a farmer all his life in Rush County.

Bob was recognized with the Master Farmer Award for his outstanding agricultural production skills and his hard work to improve excellence in family, community and schools. He was part of the Mays Lion Club for several years. Bob was on the Soil & Water Conservation Board and Rush County School Board for more than 20 years. He was the chapter president and then the district president of the FFA.

Bob is also survived by his son Darrell (Melissa) Morgan of Rush County; daughter Debbie Gray of Rush County; son Dean (Sherry) Morgan of Fayette County; sisters Janet Holloway of Rushville and Mary Kay DeHaven of Mays; six grandchildren, Mathew (Britany) Morgan, John (Kelsey) Gray, Mandy (Zach) Poliska, Nick (Emmy) Morgan, Brett Morgan and Kyle Morgan; and seven great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, John Wallace Morgan, Hugh Morgan and Richard Morgan.

Services were on March 1 at Center Christian Church, with Pastor Darryl Denney presiding. Burial was in Center Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Center Christian Church in Bob’s memory.
