Tractor Supply celebrating grand opening in Rushville

RUSHVILLE, Ind. — In the wake of losing one of its biggest retailers after Walmart announced its store closing in February, it’s safe to say the rural community of Rushville is looking forward to the options that Tractor Supply Co. will offer to local and nearby residents.

After the giant box store left, many questioned “why Rushville?” for the new location – but leaders with Tractor Supply say the retailer is coming to the community after careful and calculated consideration.

According to Grace Stewart, Public Relations for the company, it carefully chooses each new location through a robust, specific site selection process that takes into account factors such as demographic trends, competitive dynamics and existing Tractor Supply store locations.

“The city of Rushville is perfect for Tractor Supply because of the area’s commitment to growth and living life out here. Tractor Supply is excited to provide knowledgeable and friendly customer service in the area for years to come,” she said.

The store will celebrate its grand opening at 1526 N. Main Street in Rushville on June 21-24, and customers will receive a 10 percent discount on all purchases made at the store.

Tractor Supply is the largest operator of rural lifestyle retail stores in the United States. Founded in 1938 as a mail-order tractor parts business, it owns and operates more than 1,700 stores in all but one state, supplying basic maintenance products to home, land, pet and animal owners.

Based in Brentwood, Tenn., Tractor Supply is a public company whose stock is traded on The NASDAQ National Market under the symbol TSCO. Today, its annual revenues are approximately $7.26 billion.

The company is continuing to grow with new stores and improved product offerings. “With more than 28,000 team members, more than 1,700 stores in 49 states and an e-commerce website, Tractor Supply is passionate about serving its unique niche, as a one-stop shop for recreational farmers, ranchers and all those who enjoy living the rural lifestyle,” Stewart added.

“The company leverages its physical store assets with digital capabilities to offer customers the convenience of purchasing products they need anytime, anywhere and any way they choose at the everyday prices they deserve.”

Tractor Supply also owns and operates Petsense, a small-box pet specialty supply retailer focused on meeting the needs of pet owners, primarily in small and mid-size communities, and selling a variety of pet products and services. As of March 31, the company operated 172 Petsense stores in 27 states.
