Teu’ Hackney named Employee of the Year

BARNESVILLE, Ohio — Teu Hackney has been voted as Employee of the Year by the staff and owners of Longhorn Head to Tail Tours. She serves tirelessly as head tour narrator, trainer of narrators, head salesperson for Longhorn Store products and is in charge of organizing appointments and promotion for large tour groups to the ranch.

Guests from all over the nation and some foreign countries bounce across the ranch pastures of Dickinson Cattle Co., Inc. in colorful buses while Hackney provides an extensive memorized tour. Information includes the history of coal strip mining in Belmont County, the history of Texas Longhorn cattle, Dutch BueLingo cattle and African Watusi.

Famous historic personalities who were raised on the property or operated in the area include Johnny Appleseed, Christopher Columbus, Gov. Wilson Shannon, “Hanging” Judge Isaac Parker, Mexican Dictator Santa Anna, Hopalong Cassidy and the lesser-known Mart and Millie Wilde.

Hackney has faithfully worked with Longhorn Tours for five years. Her real name is Linda, but with two Lindas on the ranch, the solution was to have a Linda One and Linda “Teu.”

During the summer, Longhorn Tours depart every 40 minutes from the store/pavilion area. The tours cross five cattle pastures, circle lakes and view cattle working corral areas. Guests can hand feed cattle from the buses during the tour with a special prepared cow candy. Some days, more than 200 people tour the ranch.
