Alexander FFA attends leadership conference
COLUMBUS, Ind. — On Sept. 10, the Alexander FFA Chapter attended the Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) Conference in Columbus, Ohio.

At the conference, the members heard from motivational speaker Andrew McCrea.  McCraa taught FFA members how to become a great leader by being a good listener. This in turn, helps the chapter listen to everyone’s ideas and have a better end result on a project. After the COLT Conference the Alexander FFA Chapter headed for the State House to meet and greet with legislators as well as tour the state’s capitol building.

Miami East competes in soils judging contests
GREENVILLE, Ohio — Members of the Miami East FFA recently participated in the 2008 Darke County Judging Contests in Greenville, Ohio. Competing in the Urban Contest was Corey Rindler, Tate Church and Josie Walters. The team placed 2nd. Rindler was the highest placing individual from Miami East FFA.
 Competing in the Rural Contest was David Long, Hannah Long, Morgan Plantz, Morgan Howard and Sheena Roach.

The team placed 6th out of 12 teams. Hannah Long was the highest placing individual from Miami East.

 The contest consisted of evaluating four soils pit for slope, erosion, drainage, depth, and soil texture.
