FFA donation nets new Chevy truck
DELPHOS, Ohio — Delphos FFA member Jeff Pohlman received a $5 donation from Mark and Deb Fischer at the St. John’s vs. Parkway football game last fall.

This donation awarded them a free T-shirt and the entry that won them a new Silverado Pickup Truck. The Delphos FFA Chapter worked closely with the support of Bob Grothouse of Delpha Chevrolet, to raise scholarship dollars for the local FFA Hometown Scholarship program.

Members of FFA chapters across Ohio participated in the program, which awarded each $5 donation with a free T-shirt from a local dealership and an entry to win a new Silverado Pickup truck.

Mark and his wife Deb are members of the Young Farmers from the Delphos area and Mark is a former member of the Delphos FFA chapter.

Mark felt privileged to win the new truck and is very happy to support the FFA and all the students the program benefits.

Lucy Bowen and Scott Elwer are the Agriculture Education Instructors at Delphos High School. Their dedication and support of the student leaders of the FFA program continue to make the cooperation with local business owners like Bob Grothouse a winning relationship.

“Local sponsorship and community support allowed the chapter to give away two $500 scholarships at the school and support students to attend the Washington Leadership Conference for the first time” said Elwer.

The Hometown Scholarship Program included 62 Ohio FFA chapters and raised more than $81,000. One hundred percent of the $5 donations are directed to the FFA program.

Fischer is the second Ohio FFA supporter to win a truck in the two-year history of the program.
