Five A-C FFA teams finished Top 10 in state
ANNA, Ohio — The Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter has had many members excel on teams at the state level in various contests over the last few months. The Wildlife Management CDE, Nature Interpretation CDE, Environmental and Natural Resources CDE, Cooperative Education CDE and Aquarium Management CDE teams all placed in the top 10 in the State in recent competitions.

The State Environmental and Natural Resources CDE team consisted of Alyssa Jenkins, Josh Cordle, David Sams and Ray Spence. This is a competition in which team members work on various hands-on environmental praticums, take a written test and make a presentation on an environmental topic. This is the first time our chapter has ever participated in this contest and our team won the state competition.

This year, an FFA chapter only got invited to this contest by placing in the top 10 of either the Forestry, the Wildlife Management, or the Nature Interpretation CDEs. This year, the A-C chapter got invited due to having teams placing in the top 10 in all three contest areas. This contest is in the third and final year of a pilot phase. The A-C state winning team does not get to go to the national level this year, but next year the state winning team will be able to proceed to the next level.

The Wildlife Management CDE tests student knowledge and understanding of wildlife. At present, the contest consists of a written test, the identification of mammals, game birds, forbs, trees, shrubs and equipment, plus two practicums. The A-C team placed 6th in state, which was the highest ever for the chapter. The team consisted of Aaron Miller, Mattieu Hill, Tyler Genders, Austin Conte, Ryan Mundy, Kyle Klingler, and Hunter Ricketts.

The Nature Interpretation Career Development Event tests student knowledge and understanding of wildlife and nature in general.
At present, the contest consists of a written test, two practicums and the identification of mammals, equipment, songbirds, wildflowers, reptiles and amphibians.

The team was made up of: David Sams, Mike Hite, Alyssa Jenkins, Emily Cordle and Josh Cordle. The team placed 3rd in state, which has been the highest ever. Individually, Mike Hite placed 4th and David Sams placed 7th.

The Aquarium Management CDE tests student knowledge of aquarium fish, different aquatic, foods, equipment, plants and diseases. Our team placed 4th in state, which is also the highest ever in chapter history. The team this year consisted of: C.J. Broaddus, Josh Hampshire, Titus Disbennett, Ryan Mundy, Justin Strittmatter and Jacob White.

The Cooperative Education CDE tests student knowledge and understanding of cooperatives as a type of business. At present, it is a multiple-choice test presented in the spring at the State FFA Convention. This year our FFA chapter placed 8th in the state. The members that were part of this team included: Kelsie Sharp, Brittany Pinkstock, David Sams, Alyssa Jenkins, Josh Cordle, Brittany Stevens, Tyler Van Horn and Hannah Chenetski.

The A-C Forestry CDE team placed 7th in the state and the Agricultural Communications CDE team won the state competition earlier in the school year. Counting those teams, A-C has had seven teams place in the Top Ten in the state this year, the most since the chapter was established in 1937.
