European clean-energy firms eyeing eastern Indiana
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Several European renewable-energy companies are eyeing east-central Indiana as sites for factories and wind farms.

Wind energy manufacturers with roots in Italy and Germany have already located to the region. Now, German and Portuguese developers are considering building wind farms in the area.
Landowners in Delaware and Randolph counties recently met with representatives of a company that’s a subsidiary of a German company, which has proposed a $300 million-$400 million wind farm in the two Indiana counties.

An Italian manufacturer of gearboxes for wind turbines – Brevini – has already located in Delaware County. And two subsidiaries of a German company have located plants in the area that service wind turbines and manufacture solar- and wind-powered streetlights and wind turbines.

Rotem BKG LLC becomes ICL Premium Fertilizers NA
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Ariana Cohen, president, announced that effective Dec. 1, Rotem BKG LLC became ICL Premium Fertilizers NA. The change coincides with the reorganization of ICL North America.

ICL Premium Fertilizers NA will continue to be the main supplier of Mono Potassium Phosphate (MKP) under the brand name PeaK for the horticulture, tech and food markets, and technical grade Mono Ammonium Phosphate under the brand name NovaMAP. Additional products sold in the United States by ICL Premium Fertilizers NA include other potassium, phosphates based fertilizers (PeKacid, HiPeaK & MgPhos) and Magnesium nitrate.

ICL Premium Fertilizers NA is a member of Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL), a global group active in fertilizers, bromine and bromine compounds, specialty and performance chemicals and metallurgy.

OSU Small Business Center awarded for excellence
PIKETON, Ohio — The Ohio State University South Centers at Piketon Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has been named the 2009 Best Center in Ohio for its excellence in assisting new and existing small businesses throughout Appalachian Ohio.

The regional SBDC, which serves 10 counties, was chosen based on the number of clients it serves and the amount of time personnel invest with clients, as well as the amount of capital clients have secured through the center’s assistance. The Region 7 SBDC also includes the Manufacturing and Technology Small Business Development Center.

These provide services to clients free of charge. In 2009, the centers served more than 600 clients and spent 6,600 hours of contact time. Nearly half of those clients are long-term. They also assisted with helping to start 22 new businesses, resulting in the creation of 41 jobs. Through SBDC assistance, new and existing businesses secured over $10 million in capital.

Greens Fork Animal Hospital gets AAHA accreditation
GREENS FORK, Ind. — Greens Fork Animal Hospital has received accreditation following a comprehensive evaluation by the American Animal Hospital Assoc. (AAHA). The evaluation includes a quality assessment review of the hospital’s facility, medical equipment, practice methods and pet health care management.

Only 15 percent of all small animal veterinary practices in the United States have achieved this accreditation. In order to maintain the status, a hospital must continue to be evaluated regularly by the association’s consultants.
