ECHO acquires assests of TerraMarc Industries
CHICAGO, Ill. — ECHO Incorporated recently announced that it has acquired the assets of TerraMarc Industries, the manufacturer of Bear Cat chippers and chipper/shredders, Lockwood potato planting and harvesting implements, and Crary agricultural equipment.

Located in West Fargo N.D., the company will operate as a subsidiary of ECHO Incorporated under the name Crary Industries, Inc. The company’s 2005 sales were in excess of $35 million, with employment of 180 people. President Chuck Crary, founder of Crary Company - predecessor company to TerraMarc Industries - will continue to lead the organization.

“The Bear Cat line of products complements our current line of high performance outdoor power equipment,” said Joe Fahey, vice president of marketing for ECHO Incorporated.

Both ECHO and Bear Cat products are leaders in the homeowner, commercial landscape, tree services, rental equipment, and municipal markets. The Lockwood brand of potato equipment is highly respected worldwide since the 1930s, and Crary’s agricultural products are well known for providing increased harvesting efficiency.

“These popular agricultural brands add strength and diversity to ECHO’s overall product portfolio,” added Fahey. “ECHO is fully committed to seeing these brands continue to grow in their respective markets.”

Terms of the sale were not announced.

Nufarm Americas upgrades headquarters in Burr Ridge, Ill.
BURR RIDGE, Ill. — Nufarm Americas recently announced that it has upgraded to new corporate facilities, effective March 15. The move was necessitated by increases in corporate services and coincided with the expiration of the existing lease, but allows Nufarm to remain in the city of Burr Ridge.

Nufarm is the first tenant of the Estancia Corporate Centre on Harvester Drive and in addition to having room to expand, the new location features improved meeting facilities plus state of the art fire-protection rooms for regulatory documentation and IT equipment.

Nufarm’s executive management team celebrated the Grand Opening on March 21st with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Bob Charles, the Consular General for the Australian Embassy and his wife, Rosie; the Honorable Judy Biggert, U.S. Congressional Representative for the Thirteenth District of Illinois; and Brian Benson, Group General Manager for Nufarm Limited of Melbourne, Australia.

Charles offered praise to Nufarm for “benefiting farmers, ranchers, and lawn care companies with their innovative and necessary products that sustain agriculture and green spaces.”

Representative Biggert also welcomed Nufarm into their new offices and noted that it was very good to see “insourcing” of jobs instead of the outsourcing that many other manufacturers are doing.

Benson added that “the Americas remain a strategic region for the company’s global success and the new offices are a reflection of Nufarm’s willingness to wisely invest in the resources needed to ensure further growth.”
