Illinois auctioneer wins regional championship
GREENVILLE, Ill. — Andrew McDowell, auctioneer for Farmers Livestock Marketing Association, Greenville, Ill., won the Eastern Region Championship of the World Livestock Auctioneers Contest (WLAC). Judging took place at Livestock Marketing Association (LMA) headquarters in Kansas City on March 18.

McDowell is now qualified for the World Contest, which is June 17 in Escalon, Calif. He will compete against 30 other auctioneers from the U.S. and Canada.

The LMA is made up of members that represent livestock auction markets and order buyers in the U.S. and Canada. The WLAC is rotated among member markets and is an actual livestock auction judged by market owners, order buyers and other auctioneers. The 2007 contest will be held at Springfield, Mo.
