CARROLL, Ohio — Farm machinery and equipment from a Fairfield County, Ohio, farm sold at auction Jan. 24. 

Auctioneer Doug Leith reports more than 400 people attended the sale, coming from “all corners of Ohio and several other states.” 

The top lots sold from JBJ Farms and owner Jay Johnson were a JD 9550 combine with 2,500 and 1,900 hours, for $45,000; a Kinze 2500 (8x15) with new boxes and push units, for $35,000; a JD 4440 CHA with duals, for $16,200; and a JD 4640 CHA with duals, for $15,000. 

Other notable lots included a Moritz 20-foot trailer with a 10-foot hydraulic tail, for $10,000; an Unverferth 5000 grain cart, for $7,100; a JD 843 corn head with new snouts, rollers and chains, for $5,500; and a JD 930 grain head, for $5,000. 1929 tractor sold among

more modern implements

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Implements and farm equipment were sold at auction Jan. 31. Mensendick’s Auction Service handled the sale on behalf of consignor Gwen (Jeff) Wilkerson of 7431 W. 700 S., Columbus, Ind. 

The top-selling lot was a Kubota M110GX tractor, which brought $49,000. Other top lots were a Kubota M9960 with loader, for $46,000; a Claas round baler, $21,500; a New Holland mower, for $14,900; and a stock trailer, for $11,250.

Other notable sales included a Ford 7600 tractor, for $7,000; a New Idea spreader, $7,300; a Woods batwing mower, $7,200; a Claas combine with heads, for $6,800; a Tye bean drill, $6,250; a grain truck for $4,750; and a Claas hay rake for $4,000. 

A 1929 Huber tractor sold for $9,700.

Illinois recreational, agricultural

land to sell March 28

MARION, Ill. — About 3,794 acres of land in southern Illinois will sell in an absolute auction March 28, with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Co. marketing the land and managing the event.

The property – which includes large lakes and ponds, more than 800 acres of tillable land, recreational land, potential building sites and pasture land – will sell in 25 tracts. Most tracts are located west of Harrisburg and north of Carrier Mills, in Saline and Williamson counties.

“We’ll have tracts of all shapes and sizes, with a couple that are three or four acres, ranging up to a large hunting/recreational tract of 591 acres. Bidders may combine tracts to purchase just the land that suits their needs,” said Brad Horrall, who is managing the sale for Schrader. All tracts will sell with no reserve.

“This includes a number of tracts that are good for hunting of waterfowl, geese, deer and turkey, as well as fishing and other outdoor sports. Many of the tracts also include designated building areas.”

The auction will begin at 10 a.m. CST March 28 at The Pavilion, 1602 Sioux Drive in Marion. Schrader personnel will be available to provide detailed information at two inspection dates scheduled for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. March 10 and 27.

Ruark-Morgan land sells

for $5,100 per acre

WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. — 250 acres of gently rolling cropland and hill wooded land sold at auction in one tract for $1,275,000 or $5,100 per acre.

The buyer was an area business person. The acreage included 222 acres of cropland with the balance being wooded hill land. The predominant soil types were Uniontown and Karnack silt loams.
