American music tapestry completed by The Isaacs

BITTER SWEET, Ky. — There’s something to be said about family and being together with family. I think that is why I like the Isaacs so much. This bluegrass/gospel ensemble includes mother Lily Isaacs and siblings Ben Isaacs, Sonya Isaacs Yeary and Rebecca Isaacs Bowman.
While they may not be a household name in the world of country music, the bluegrass and Christian music crowds have enjoyed their sound for years.
And country stars at all levels certainly know of the talent this family possesses with many having performed with them including Vince Gill and the Oak Ridge Boys while countless others have included their vocals in back-up roles.
They are also talented writers having penned songs for the likes of Trisha Yearwood and Leann Rimes, to name just a couple.
I think what I like most about their music is how easily they transition from up tempo, old fashioned gospel hymns to more folk-like ballads and even remakes of popular selections.
It is groups like the Isaacs that complete the tapestry of American music, in my opinion. These folks have made countless appearances on the famed Gaither Homecoming shows, endless tours across the country and around the world along with appearances on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.
But I enjoy them most in church. Don’t get me wrong; they are great no matter the place but there is something about hearing their music in that sacred place that moves me.  If you look at their tour schedule, you’ll see an abundance of stops at churches everywhere. In fact, they are coming to my hometown soon to play at one of our local churches and the buzz has already started.
It’s for sure it will be a packed house and I plan to be on the front row. My point is, these types of venues allows the audience to feel up close and personal with their music. It’s like being home with family.
Their latest album is call, The Living Years and is a great collection of a variety of songs that really showcases the talents each brings to the group.
In my classroom, nothing short of an A would be appropriate for the Isaacs and that’s what I give them not only for the special music they make but for the feelings only a family can make you feel.
