April 29: The Master Gardener Assoc. Garden School 2017 will be 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Madison County 4-H Building, 512 E. 4th St., Alexandria, Ind. It is open to the public (ages 18 years and older). The $35 cost includes continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments. Register by April 21. June 22-24: The 2017 Hart-Parr Oliver Collectors Association (HPOCA) National Summer Show will be at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, Madison, Ind., the first time it’s ever been held south of Interstate 70. The show will display many pieces of Oliver equipment and tractors, but other brands of tractors and equipment, garden tractors and hit and miss engines are invited. May 9: The University of Tennessee Center for Profitable Agriculture will conduct an “E-commerce for Direct Farm Marketers” workshop from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Jonesborough. Register (https://tiny.utk.edu/ecommerce) by May 4.
 
May 2: Producers planning to sell meat directly to consumers have some free training available. A University of Tennessee Extension workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m. CDT at the Tennsco Community Center in Dickson, Tenn. The information will apply to beef, pork, lamb and goat meat, but will not be relevant to poultry producers. Pre-registration is required. May 10-July 11: Dreaming of managing your own green acres? The University of Tennessee Center for Profitable Agriculture will offer “Considerations for Beginning Farmers” at several dates and locations across the state. The fullday workshop is designed for those with little or no farming background. Cost to attend is $25 per person, which includes the program and lunch. The remaining dates and locations are:

May 18-20: The 2017 Small Ruminant Conference will be on the campus of the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture in Knoxville, Tenn.
