A Valentine to make you smile

By Sandra Sheridan

Psalm 139:17-18 “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.”
Smack dab in the middle of the month of February dawns a day that sets the heart to smiling. Valentine’s Day has long been a special occasion to demonstrate love to those we cherish. Chocolates, flowers and cards showered on sweethearts have brought great joy over the years. But sometimes the most meaningful display of appreciation is expressed in simple but powerful words.
Tucked into the middle of the Bible is just such a love note. When we read God’s Word it causes us to meditate on Him, but did you know He thinks about us? The Lord inspired the Psalmist to express the truth of God’s love in beautiful words: “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.”
How can it be that the great God of the universe could fill His mind with us? He formed our bodies, knows us better than anyone else, and chose to reveal His love in so many ways, including beautiful words to cheer our hearts. That should make us tremendously happy!
You may or may not receive a special something on the fourteenth day of this month, but there is something even better within the pages of an old, leather-bound book: it’s a love letter from an Almighty God who loves you even more than words can express. Now that’s a Valentine that should really make you smile!!
