GROWMARK announces scholarship winners

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Thirty-nine Midwest college students will be able to continue their education with help from the regional agricultural supply cooperative, GROWMARK.

They are recipients of GROWMARK-sponsored scholarships aimed at promoting higher education in agriculture and business, awarded to students majoring in agriculture or accounting at 14 universities and colleges. Each institution is responsible for the selection process and awarding scholarships.

Instructors teach livestock judging at Ohio fair

WAUSEON, Ohio — The Fulton County ag teachers took time on Junior Fair Day to provide a Livestock Judging Contest during the Fulton County Fair. Junior Fair kids and adults first learned about judging goats, as that will be part of the contest next year. They then judged a class of dairy cows, a class of market lambs, a class of market hogs and a class of steers. They placed the animals and answered questions that helped them determine how to place the livestock.

Thanks go to the Fulton County Pork Producers, County Beef Producers and County Dairy producers, who provided sandwiches and milk shakes as prizes. Winners are as follows:

Senior teams: 1st Place, Arrin Short, Aaron Bruner, Aaron King; 2nd Place, Cady Stockburger, Allison Cuff, Clay Burkholder; 3rd Place, Samantha Norman, Vicki Nofziger, Emily Herring.

Senior individuals: 1st Place Clay Burkholder; 2nd Place Aaron King; 3rd Place Travis Schroeder.

Junior teams: 1st Place, Justin Nofziger, Eli King, Tate Kauffman; 2nd Place, Zac Graber, Blake Graber, Christian Chambers; 3rd Place, Matthew Kinsman, Nate Herr, Jerad Seiler.

Junior individuals: 1st Place Justin Nofziger; 2nd Place Blake Graber; 3rd Place Dustin Nofziger.

Adult winners: 1st Place Dennis Knisley; 2nd Place Mark Brehm; 3rd Place Lori Graber.
