Chevy trucks, John Deere tractors top Ohio sale
COLLINS, Ohio — During the estate auction of James S. Evans, high-selling items included a 2001 GMC Yukon XL at $4,800 and a 1927 Chevy pick-up truck at $4,600.
The auction on Oct. 2 took place in Collins, Ohio, and also featured several Chevy pick-up trucks, several John Deere two-cylinder tractors, John Deere lawn mowers and numerous tools and parts.
Other highlights of the October sale included: a 1972 Chevy Nova sold for $3,100; a 1988 Interstate tri-axle trailer for $1,150; a 1954 Chevy PT truck for $700; a 1979 Chevy pick-up truck for $950; a 1941 Chevy pick-up for $2,200; a 1941 Chevy cab and chassis with extra parts, fenders and grills for $400; a 1950 John Deere R for $3,600; a 1947 John Deere G for $3,900; a John Deere A for $1,650; a John Deere MT mower for $1,400; a John Deere H for $2,100; John Deere B tractor parts for $275, a lime spreader for $70; a MTD 2-bottom plow for $30; and an international plow for $25. Several other plows and parts sold from $45 to $300. Also a 4-tow MTD cultivator sold for $55, a 1969 Trailmobile van trailer sold for $900; storage bins for $900, and a John Deere 200 riding mower sold for $225. Other John Deere riding mowers including a 60, 112 and 110 sold for $80, $70 and $210, respectively.

Case skid loader sells for $3,800 at Indiana auction
BUTLER, Ind. — On Oct. 9, farm machinery owned by Charles Hawpf, of Butler, Ind. was auctioned off by Jim Littlejohn.
Auction items included two John Deere mowers F525 for $550 and $500, a Walinga AgriVac for $2,400; a Case 1830 skid loader for $3,800; a Case 1816 skid steer for $2,800; a Case trencher (Davis 40+2) for $3,500; a Michigan wheel loader 1250 for $2,150 and a Farm King snowblower for $1,300.
Halderman land auctions average over $5K per acre
BLANCHESTER, Ohio — During two recent Halderman Real Estate land auctions in October, 195 acres of cropland and woods in Blanchester, Ohio sold for $4,154 an acre and a 126 acre farm in Westport, Ind. sold for $5,962 an acre.
A capacity crowd packed the Freedom Worship Baptist Church Fellowship Hall as farmers, land owners and investors battled for a piece of the 195 acres of quality Ohio farmland. In the end, four bidders walked away successful with individual tracts topping out at $4,886 per acre. The total sale amounted to $810,000.
For the 126 acres of farmland in Westport, Ind., according to Haldermans, it was standing room only in the Westport Community room. Aggressive bidding saw two bidders rise to the top with tract one topping the auction at nearly $6,200 per acre. The total sale was $755,000 or an average of $5,962 an acre.
Kurtz auctions 161 acre farm for $319K
METROPOLIS, Ill. — Kurtz Auction & Realty Company auctioned the Helen Larrison farm containing 161.1 acres located 15 miles northwest of Metropolis, Ill., in Massac County for $319,744 or $1,985 per acre.
The farm had about 42 acres of gently rolling cropland, 17 of which was in CRP at $70 per acre. The balance was wooded hill land well suited for hunting with some young timber. Improvements included an older two bedroom farm house, a newer 24-foot by 72-foot machinery shed ,and a small lake.
Kurtz sold the land using the choice-by-the-acre method on the four larger tracts and then sold the house tract. Each sale was final. The five tracts were not offered as a group. The wooded hill land tracts sold for $ 1,650 per acre. The cropland over aged $ 2, 258 per acre and the house tract sold for $ 36,000.
There were three local buyers, one from Kentucky and one from Chicago, a hunter.
Larrison told Jason Blue, of Kurtz “If I have a successful auction, I’ll yodel for you.”
As soon as the last item sold, she said “Give me that microphone” “Not a bad tune for a senior yodeler” said Blue. Her yodel was followed by applause.
