Tractor give-away highlights the winter farm show season

Coinciding with the onset of blustering wind and snow is the winter farm show season. The Farm World staff works many farm shows throughout the year, but the winter season is particularly busy.

With the Greater Peoria Farm Show and the Indiana-Illinois Farm Equipment and Outdoor Power Show both behind us, the Farm World staff is meeting readers and advertisers at the Fort Wayne Farm Show at the Allen County, Ind., War Memorial Coliseum this week. Coming up, Farm World will exhibit at the Power Show Ohio in Columbus and the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky.
To celebrate our more than 55 years in print, Farm World will raffle a restored 1955 John Deere 60 antique tractor at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20 at the Fort Wayne Farm Show. Anyone who subscribed between Jan. 1, 2010 through noon on Jan. 20 is eligible to win the tractor. (Contest rules have been published in the paper throughout the past year.) Here are a few of the details, though:

•No cash equivalent will be offered; the prize must be accepted as awarded.
•The winner does not need to be present to win.
•The winner must arrange for pick up and is responsible for all incurred costs.
•The winner must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the drawing to be eligible for the prize.

•The winner is responsible for any taxes related to winning the prize.
Farm World was originally published as The Eastern Indiana Farmer beginning in February 1955. Five years ago, to celebrate our 50th anniversary, we raffled a 1955 Farmall tractor.

If you happen to be at the Fort Wayne Farm Show, please stop by our booth – No. 1308 – and chat. If not there, look for us at the shows in Columbus, Ohio and Louisville, Ky. in the coming weeks.

Four-section Farm World

Farm World is continuing to grow. Beginning in February, the newspaper will grow from its current three-section format to four sections. Weeks that include farm show supplements or the Marketplace will push the paper to five sections.
The new section will spotlight auction news and advertising.

Farm World was built on its reliability of connecting farmers who buy and sell farm equipment. By putting our auction news and advertising into the same section, we hope to make it easier for our readers to find what they are seeking.

Auctioneers who wish to advertise in this section will need to have their ads into the Farm World office by 4:30 p.m. every Thursday (except for holiday schedules). We welcome our readers and auctioneers to send us photos and reports from the auctions they attend. We will try to publish as many as possible.

The new auction section will be labeled at Section C. The section that features our classified ads will be Section D.

The classifieds will still be the last section inserted in the paper each week, so that we can accommodate last-minute ads.

The deadline for the classifieds is 11 a.m. every Monday (except for holidays).
Thank you for helping Farm World to grow and become your source for farm news and advertising the Midwest.
