Obituary - Pete Miller III
Dec. 28, 1960-Feb. 3, 2011
Peter “Pete” Miller III, 50, of Peru died Feb. 3, 2011, in his home.
Funeral services were private. Hurst Funeral Home, La Salle, Ill., handled the arrangements.

Pete was born Dec. 28, 1960, to M. Peter Miller Jr. and Mary (Lofland) Miller.
He was educated in the Peru and La Salle school systems until his sophomore year of high school when he transferred to Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C.

His first two years of college were at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, where he met and later married Catherine Eberwine. Pete and Cathy’s interest in a business major led them to University of Minnesota, from which they both graduated.

Pete and Cathy enjoyed raising Golden Retrievers. Over the years, their family included Brio and Chase who’ve passed on, along with Sky, Keno and Seiko, who remain at home with Cathy.

Pete and Cathy have been avid supporters of As Good as Gold, Golden Retriever Rescue of Northern Illinois, Illinois Valley Animal Rescue and Illinois Valley YMCA.
Survivors are his wife, Cathy; his Golden Retrievers, Sky, Keno and Seiko; one brother, Mark of Florida; one sister, Kristie (T.L. Hawkins) Miller of Virginia and Arizona; his uncle, Frederick C. Miller of Peru; his aunt, Dorcas “Dot” Lofland of Roanoke, Va.; and cousins, Lee (Steve) Stanard, Rick (Jane) Miller, Fort (Julie) Miller, Libby (Jim) Boyle and Marilynn (Dan) Harris; three nieces, Tally, Ellen and Hanna; and a nephew, Sandy.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 2000 and his father in 2004.
The family requests that memorials be directed to one of the above charities or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Editor’s Note: Pete Miller was the president of the Miller Group Media, which owns the La Salle (Ill.) NewsTribune, AgriNews publications, Ottawa Delivered and WLPO-WAJK-WLWS. Farm World extends its sympathies to our colleagues at AgriNews.
