Sugar Valley Meats issues voluntary recall SUGARCREEK, Ohio — Sugar Valley Meats LLC of Sugarcreek has issued a voluntary recall due to possible listeria monocytogenes contamination involving approximately 200 pounds of ready-to-eat product.
The products are wieners, beef wieners and smoked sausage (small links only). Each product’s package label bears the establishment number (Est. 165) inside the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) inspection legend.
The products involved in this recall were offered for sale through Sugar Valley’s retail store from Feb. 23-March 15. The problem was discovered as a result of routine sampling by the ODA. According to the company, the ODA has not received any consumer complaints or reports of illness at press time.
Consumption of food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes can cause listerosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy people rarely contract listerosis, those who become ill are advised to seek medical attention.
Sugar Valley Meats stated “we value our customers and strive to produce a safe and wholesome product. FMC corrects usage of Cadet herbicide PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — FMC Agricultural Products has issued a correction on the usage rate of its Cadet herbicide when applied to corn.
In previous informational materials, the usage rate of Cadet herbicide was stated as 0.6 to 9 ounces per acre for control of labeled weeds alone or in a tank mix with other post herbicides. The correct usage rate is 0.6 to 0.9 ounce – not 9 ounces – per acre.
FMC also announced a new broader use label for Cadet, which now offers the benefit of pre-plant in addition to early post treatments for greater application flexibility in both corn and soybeans.
With the new label, Cadet may be applied in soybeans from pre-plant through the full flowering stage of development (prior to R3). In field corn and popcorn, Cadet may be applied from prior to planting until the corn is 48 inches tall or prior to tasseling, whichever comes first.
