SPRINGVILLE, Ind. — Looking to improve your beef herd? Interested cattlemen and women can place the winning bid on one of 110 genetically-sound bulls at the 67th annual Indiana Beef Evaluation Program (IBEP) Bull Sale on Thursday, April 16 in Springville.

Beginning at 6 p.m., the April 16 bull sale will commence at the Springville Feeder Auction in Springville, Ind., 10 miles northwest of Bedford on State Route 54-58. The sale line-up includes 86 Angus, 1 Charolais, 3 Hereford, 1 Lim-Flex, 1 Red Angus, 13 SimAngus, and 5 Simme bulls.
All sale bulls entered in the winter test program were evaluated based on performance criteria, including daily rate of gain; structural soundness, such as feet and legs; breeding soundness, such as a semen and reproductive tract evaluation; and carcass merit measurements, such as the ribeye area, using ultrasound technology.

For bidders unable to attend the sale in person, the sale will also be broadcast live online at DVAuction.com

Additionally, an Open House at the Feldun Purdue Agricultural Center’s IBEP Test Station in Bedford will be held Thursday, April 7 from 3:30 p.m. until dusk and feature a public viewing of the bulls, as well as an educational program on bull selection at 4:45 p.m. A complimentary supper of burgers and beef bratwurst will be served from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. RSVP for the dinner by calling 765-494-6439 or e-mailing tstewart@purdue.edu
