WOOSTER, Ohio — The Ohio 4-H Dairy and The Ohio State University extension are sponsoring the first “Dairy Palooza” April 30, hosted by Grammer Jersey Farm, located at 11810 Johnson Road in Beloit. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the clinics getting under way at 10 a.m.

The event is open to youth from Cloverbuds to 18 years of age. Parents and advisors are also invited to attend.

During the day, six clinics will cover topics including dairy judging and oral reasons, dairy quiz bowl – a contest testing knowledge of the dairy industry – and a showmanship clinic with tips and pointers on fine-tuning showmanship skills.

They will also include a review of the new Purebred Dairy Cattle Assoc. showmanship card, nutrition and health, washing, fitting and clipping, while offering techniques on how to make an animal look its best in the ring. They also feature a career expo with representatives from several organizations to discuss careers in agriculture and the dairy industry.

The cost of the event is $3 and includes lunch and a t-shirt, rope halter and clipboard for each dairy youth. For reservations and questions, contact Bonnie Ayars at 614-688-3143 or e-mail her at ayars.5@osu.edu
