INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — AntiqueWeek will host its first antique show, Jan. 20-22, 2012, in conjunction with the Indianapolis Home Show. The event will be at the South Pavilion of the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

AntiqueWeek is a sister publication of Farm World, also produced by MidCountry Media.

“Our friends at the Indy Home Show approached us about the idea of including an antiques section at the Home Show,” said AntiqueWeek publisher Tony Gregory. “AntiqueWeek has been part of recent discussions with antiques industry leaders regarding ways to introduce more people to the joys of antiques who may not think of decorating with antiques. We thought this was a perfect fit. This gives our dealers a unique opportunity to generate some new long time customers.”

Home Show organizers say the average income for attendees is $75,000.

AntiqueWeek Antiques Show organizers expect 35,000 people to attend the event, in part, due to the partnership with the Indianapolis Home Show. The Indianapolis Home Show will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2012. The Home show runs 10 days from Jan. 20-29 and more than 100,000 people are expected to attend.

The AntiqueWeek Antique Show will only be during the first weekend of the Home Show. The show’s hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22.

“AntiqueWeek and the Indianapolis Home Show have a long relationship going back to when we were both owned by the same parent company,” said Gregory. “They produce some of the best home shows in the country and even go so far as to construct a complete finished house for guests to tour inside the convention building. We have consulted before on antiques related themes and attractions to the show, but this is the first time that we have launched a full scale show-within-a-show concept.”

A ticket to the Indianapolis Home Show also buys entrance to the AntiqueWeek Antiques Show. Ticket prices are $13 for adults, although tickets bought online cost only $11 for adults, and $3 for children between the ages of 6-12 years old. Children age 5 and younger are free.

“AntiqueWeek is very excited to be a part of this event,” said Gregory.

“There will be great event attractions such as guest speakers, demonstrations, door prizes and much more. I think that it is good for the antiques industry to have such a cross-over event. The ability to connect with antiques enthusiasts and generate new antiques enthusiasts is a rare opportunity, and we believe that this will be one of the best shows around. It will be a great weekend for buying, selling and education.”
