FFA teaming with business to rebuild southern Indiana

HENRYVILLE, Ind. — The Indiana State FFA Officer Team are heading to Henryville and New Pekin on May 30 to work on two farms destroyed by the March 2 super cell tornado. Farm Credit Services of Mid America (FCS) has presented Indiana FFA a $1,000 check for use to buy wire and posts in the destruction zone. Keystone Steel and Wire in Peoria, Ill., has donated 13 pallets of fencing wire products worth $16,000 for volunteer teams of farmers to use as they rebuild perimeter fence lines.

The Fellowship of Christian Farmers, International (FCFI) has set up a base camp in Henryville to begin the long recovery campaign. Farmers who know how to run loaders and chain saws are still needed in the rural areas surrounding Henryville. Fencing repairs on pastureland will be needed immediately.

The Fellowship of Christian Farmers, International has its shower trailer at the Henryville Methodist Church to begin helping farm families in Clark County rebuild following the tornadoes. The FCFI Motor Coach is also available for lodging for families and teams who can come to Henryville to build.

FCFI invites retired farmers, church groups and FFA chapters to consider traveling to the Fellowship’s base camp to begin helping our Indiana neighbors. Contact the FCFI Home Office to register your team to be part of the “Henryville, Ind., Super Cell Tornado Relief” campaign by email at fellowship@fcfi.org or call Jerry Druhan at 309-287-4244.
