Wayne County to host Ohio ag outlook event

WOOSTER, Ohio — What will happen to the dairy industry in 2013? What are the grain markets going to do? What factors are influencing crop prices and inputs?

What will land rents be in 2013? How should one calculate their crop budgets?

These are among the topics to be covered in the 2013 Wayne County Agriculture Outlook Meeting. Scheduled for Jan. 23 at Fisher Auditorium on the Wooster campus of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, the meeting is sponsored by Ohio State University extension and First National Bank.

Registration begins at 10 a.m.; the program will begin at 10:30 and conclude at 3 p.m. It will include “Examining Potential Profitability in 2013: Land Values, Cash Rents and Crop Inputs” by Barry Ward; “Grains Outlook” by Matt Roberts; and “Dairy Market and Policy Watch” by Cameron Thraen – all OSU extension specialists from the Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics.

Additional sessions will include “Ohio Farm Business Summary” by Dianne Shoemaker, OSU extension field specialist dairy production economics; and “Working with Your Ag Lender” by Tom Stocksdale of First National Bank.

The cost of the program is $10 per person, which includes refreshments, lunch and handouts. More information is available on the website http://wayne.osu.edu
