Twenty-five Shelby County neighbors combined forces recently to assist a fellow farmer, Malcolm Settles, who had been hospitalized.
Neighbors and friends gathered at the Settles farm on Airport Road, Route 2, Shelbyville, and completed combining soybeans and corn.
A team of Future Farmers from Culver won the Judging Contest held in connection with the Show and Sale of the Indiana Duroc Breeders Assoc. in Marion. Members of the team were Ron Miller, Kevin Overmeyer and Mark Kepler, and their coach is Larry McCollough.

President Ronald Reagan signed a new farm credit bill this month after Congress approved the $4 billon package just before the Christmas break.

Nationwide, Indiana popped into second place with popcorn production and the value of popcorn. Indiana farmers grew nearly 27 pounds of popcorn for every Hoosier.
