Farm Credit Services awards scholarships to college students

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Farm Credit Services of Mid-America has announced the recipients of their 2006-07 Agricultural Scholarships. The scholarships are awarded annually at land grant colleges and other universities with agricultural programs throughout the cooperative’s four-state service territory of Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee.

The scholarships are given to students pursuing an education in agriculture, finance or an agriculture-related field of study and are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, leadership and potential contributions to the ag industry. For the 2006-2007 academic year, the cooperative awarded over $20,000 in scholarships to the following recipients:

•Paul Haan of Lafayette, Ind. Major: Finance, Indiana University

•Tamara Truax of Pittsboro, Ind. Major: Farm Management, Purdue University

•Adam Zeller of Noblesville, Ind. Major: Agricultural Systems Management, Purdue University

•Summer Fagg of Clay City, Ind. Major: Agricultural Finance, Purdue University

•Jayme Winebrenner of Fort Wayne, Ind. Major: Marketing, Telecommunications and Spanish, Ball State University

•Clint Ary of Greenfield, Tenn. Major: Animal Science, University of Tennessee at Martin

•Lindsey White of Manchester, Tenn. Major: Environmental Agriculture and Animal Science, Tennessee Technological University

•Margaret Jackson of Murfreesboro, Tenn. Major: Animal Science, Middle Tennessee University

•Jessica Blair of Riceville, Tenn. Major: Pre-veterinary Science, University of Tennessee

•Carrie Simmons of Owensboro, Ky. Major: Agricultural Business, Western Kentucky University

•Caroline E. Hall of Williamsburg, Ohio. Major: Ag Economics and Business, University of Kentucky

•Kelly Ann Davidson of Stamping Ground, Ky. Major: Ag Economics, University of Kentucky

•Nicholas Miller of Washington, CH, Ohio. Major: Agribusiness and Applied Economics, Ohio State University
