On the farm of Arthur Lamberson near Bentonville, recently, a fire costing $12,000-$15,000 in losses of farm equipment, building and corn occurred. The cause of the blaze has not been determined, but is believed the fire started from a coal heater in a shed nearby, which became overheated.

Five Hoosiers were awarded Master Farmer degrees by Indiana Prairie Farmer for outstanding accomplishments in farming and for community service. They are: Kenneth Caldwell of Milton; H. Rolland Moesner of Dale; Carroll Thompson of Argos; Paul Thurston of Alexandria; and Samuel Washburn of Fowler. Lt. Gov. Joe Kerman, who serves as the state’s commissioner of Agriculture, recently awarded the Certificate of Distinction from the Purdue Agricultural Alumni Assoc. to Joseph R. Pearson. He is a Blackford County farmer who farms with his brother, Harry, near Hartford City, and also serves as assistant commissioner of agriculture for Indiana.
