Amanda-Clearcreek FFA elects new officers AMANDA, Ohio — On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter came under the leadership of seven new officers. The new officer team consists of: President - Katie Krile, Vice-President - Adrian Wymer, Secretary - Susan Householder, Treasurer - Kaylee Reed, Reporter - Katerina Sharp, Sentinel - Austin Stai and Student Advisor - Devon Mullen.
There were 12 members who ran for the seven officer positions. It is no “walk in the park,” as some might say, to become an FFA officer candidate in the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter, due to the size of the chapter and participation of its members. The candidates had to complete and turn-in an officer application, go through a rigorous interview and give a speech at the meeting before the elections took place. Speaking in front of large groups of people is just one skill that these officers must perfect in order to better lead the chapter. Candidates also have to complete an extra assignment if running for one of the three ‘book’ offices of secretary, treasurer or reporter.
There were 115 students at the meeting, and after all of this was properly completed, the chapter’s members voted on their new officer team for the upcoming year. The votes were counted and the winners announced.
The retiring officer team, consisting of: President - Nick Brumfield, Vice-President - Allyson Davis, Secretary - Katerina Sharp, Treasurer - Mikaila Drake, Reporter - Hannah Robinson, Sentinel - Katie Krile and Student Advisor - Rachel Stoneburner, then inducted the new officer team into their positions, where they will effectively complete their responsibilities and lead the chapter through the upcoming year.
The Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Alumni recently awarded a total of $1,500 to three current college students who have successfully completed their first term at their respective institutions. They are Emily Cordle, Sierra Jepsen, and Jenna Ferguson. These three recipients were FFA members for three or more years, earned their Chapter FFA Degree, and were awarded the scholarship funds after they completed the application process and were interviewed by the A-C FFA Alumni members. The announcement of their awards was made at the FFA Awards Banquet on May 12, 2012.
Emily Cordle is attending Xavier University where she is majoring in health service administration with a minor in business. This past fall, Cordle competed in the National Environmental and Natural Resources Career Development Event at the National FFA Convention.
Sierra Jepsen is attending The Ohio State University majoring in agricultural business with a minor in agricultural production. Jepsen recently applied for the American FFA Degree and for a proficiency award in the area of beef production, entrepreneurship. Along with attending college she continues to own and manage her own small herd of beef cattle at her parent’s farm.
The third recipient, Jenna Ferguson, is attending Hocking Technical College majoring in business management and entrepreneurship. Ferguson also recently applied for a proficiency award in the area of agricultural services for her work at her father’s business. All three young women continue to be involved with FFA through activities described above. They have also joined the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Alumni, which serves as a support organization for the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA. The A-C FFA Alumni is proud and honored to assist in the lifelong goals and continuing tradition of these three excellent Amanda-Clearcreek graduates.
