Kentucky National Dairy Show & Sale fetches owners tidy sums

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — All breeds of cattle were represented at the Kentucky National Dairy Show and Sale April 4-6 in Louisville, and each breed presented a sale offering that was also entered in the Kentucky National Show.

Beginning with the Ayrshire offering that averaged $1,295, the Grand Champion was Mill Valley Pandalaro Becca, consigned by Mill Valley Farm of Sidney, Ohio, and purchased by Danny Lee Dailey of Winchester, Ky., for $2,100. Reserve Grand Champion went to Covey-Farms Charmane, consigned by Smith Bros. Dairy of Smyrna, Tenn., and purchased by Emerald Farms of Winchester, Ohio, for $1,600.

In the Heifer show JSB Acres Winter Storm was named Junior Champion and was consigned by Joey Branstetter of Hardyville, Ky., purchased by Emily Goins of Waddy, Ky., for $2,000.

The Reserve Junior Champion was Twin-View Rockin Robin Rocker, consigned by Lauren Barrett of Glasgow, Ky., and purchased by Timmy and Sandy Vibbert of Glasgow, Ky., for $1,050.

In the Brown Swiss show the Grand Champion was Volks Pollyden Margo, consigned by Alyssa Volk of West Harrison, Ind., and purchased by Richard Sparrow of Owenton, Ky., for $1,550. Reserve Grand Champion was Volks Jetty Jan, consigned by David Volk & Family of West Harrison and also purchased by Sparrow for $1,325.
Junior Champion of the Brown Swiss show was Alpine Hills Denver Sundae, consigned by Daniel Colson of Dry Ridge, Ky., and purchased by Ally Jones of Glasgow for $1,450. The Reserve Junior Champion was Fairdale Legacy Pumpkin, consigned by Ben and Kirby Sparrow of Owenton, and purchased by Callie Lewis of Brodhead, Ky., for $2,200.

The Brown Swiss sale averaged $1,392.

The Guernsey Grand Champion was Lambrecht Aaron Evelyn, consigned by Megan Lambrecht of Bedford, Ind., and purchased by Brian Schnebly of Ohio for $2,550. Reserve Grand Champion was Lambrecht Dollar Ginger, consigned by Molly Lambrecht and purchased by Donna Coltman of Williamsfield, Ohio, for $2,400.
Hartdale Deemand Acorn, consigned by Braden Hartmann of Mulberry Grove, Ill., was named Junior Champion of the Guernsey show and was purchased by Tom Smith of Nicholasville, Ky., for $2,750.

The Reserve Junior Champion was Dogwood Lane LS Maranda, consigned by John Myers of Worton, Md., and purchased by Korri Briggs of Glasgow for $2,500.The sale averaged $1,553.
The Milking Shorthorns had their turn in the show ring, and Grand Champion was Ritchies LBC Visa Vi, consigned by Katlyn Vencill of Nicholasville and purchased by Lattires Twilight Farm of Lawrenceburg, Ind., for $1,650.

Reserve Grand Champion was Twiligte D Gibbys Gabby, consigned by Billy Lattire of Lattires Twilight Farm and purchased by Nance Farm of McConnell, S.C., for $1,250.

The Milking Shorthorn Junior Champion was Halpins Roni, consigned by Mike Halpin of Kempton, Ill., and purchased by Lattires Twilite Farm for $2,500. The Reserve Junior Champion was LaLu Zues Raylee, consigned by Sara Halliburton of Sparta, Tenn., and purchased by Byron Smithson of Ridgeville, Ind., for $1,750.
The Milking Shorthorn sale averaged $1,207.

When the Holsteins took to the show ring, KA-Bridge Atlas Berri came out with Grand Champion honors. She was consigned by Greg Peters of Brownstown, Ind., and purchased by Taylor-Maid Farms of New Castle, Ky., for $2,700.

The Reserve Grand Champion was Ky-Blue Maid Candy, consigned by Katie Gibson and Brad Taylor of Eminence, Ky., and purchased by Western Kentucky University of Bowling Green for $2,500.
Junior Champion of the Holstein show was Ky-Blue Dempsey Music, consigned by Katie Gibson, and was purchased by Isaac Smithson and Kaylin Luck of Ridgeville for $2,800. The Reserve Junior Champion was Express-SMD Quake Jazel, consigned by Stan-Mar-Dale/Express Holsteins of Urbana, Ohio, and purchased by Mark and Luke Jones of Loretto, Ky., for $1,700.

The Holsteins averaged $2,138.75 in this sale.

Managed by Jersey Marketing Service, the Jersey sale averaged $2,089 on 68 lots. Grand Champion was TC 1457 Jade Iris, consigned by Kevin Lutz of Lincolnton, N.C., and purchased by Kilgus Dairy of Fairbury, Ill., for $6,700.

The Reserve Grand Champion was Ouednibt Deacon BG-P, consigned by Corey Lutz & Family of Lincolnton and purchased by Zeinstra Farms of Shelbyville, Mich., for $5,750.

In the Jersey Heifer show, Junior Champion was KCJF Responses Incredible, consigned by Brittany Core of Salvisa, Ky., and purchased by Scott Sanford of Appleton, Wis., for $5,750. Reserve Junior Champion was GD Vincent Amelia, consigned by Godeon Jersey Farm and Amanda and Andrew Dragoo of Lynn, Ind., and purchased by Dick Miller & Family of Osgood, Ind., for $3,500.
