Hogs should be kept out of lots where clay pigeons have been used in target practice. Pitch poisoning may result if hogs eat pieces of the broken pigeons, even though the broken targets have been embedded in the ground for many years, say Purdue University veterinarians.

Dean (Bud) Lester has been named the top senior agriculture student at Union High School and has received the DeKalb Agriculture Award of Ag Research, Inc. Dean, the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lester of Modoc, will farm with his grandfather after graduation.

Herbicides stolen from the Moultrie-Shelby County FS warehouse in Stewardson, Ill., valued at $13,624, have partially been recovered as a result of a theft-deterrent container code identification system introduced by Monsanto Co. and in use by farm chemical dealers.
Several small tornadoes struck last month in portions of Indiana, causing hundreds of dollars in damage. Nobody was hurt in the twisters, which occurred at the south edge of Greenwood, at Lebanon, Bloomington and Loontz Lake near South Bend.

North Star Hardware & Implement Co., of North Star, Ohio, has earned top sales award recognition from Deutz-Allis Corp. for its last year’s performance in the area of combine sales performance and total sales volume, according to General Manager Jerry Stammen.

Howard Halderman of Wabash, Ind., in the School of Agriculture and William Port of Colchester, Conn., School of Veterinary Medicine, were selected for their academic and extracurricular work for this past school year and were honored during the annual Senior Chili Supper.
