Edward L. Theesfeld

Edward L. Theesfeld, 91, of Cissna Park, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at V.A. Illiana Healthcare Systems Palliative Care Services in Danville, Ill.

Ed was born May 3, 1923, in Gilman, Ill., the son of Herman and Kathryn Koets Theesfeld, and they preceded him in death, in addition to one brother, Roger Theesfeld. Ed married Joanne Zoellner on March 21, 1954, in Valley Mills, Ind., and she preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 2013.

He is survived by one son, Tom (Diane) Theesfeld of Rankin, Ill.; one brother, Herb (Ellen) Theesfeld of Rankin; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces; and one nephew.

Ed served in the U.S. Army/Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the Cissna Park American Legion Post #527. He was inducted into the Cissna Park FFA Hall of Fame and participated in Honor Flight. He was self-employed for 60 years in farming, used farm equipment and timber. He was a 1941 graduate of Cissna Park High School, attended the former Union Church in Cissna Park and enjoyed visiting friends, history and attending auctions.

Per his wishes, Ed was cremated and a graveside service was held on Nov. 11 at the Rankin Union Cemetery in Rankin. Rev. Steve Anderson officiated. Military graveside rites were conducted by the Cissna Park American Legion Post #527.
