Branham Equipment owner new at business, but knows his trucks

By ANN ALLEN
Indiana Correspondent

MARKLE, Ind. — As owner of Branham Equipment Sales and Exports, Inc., Gregg E. Branham is living his dream of being a small business owner. He’ll be at the Indiana-Illinois Farm and Outdoor Power Equipment Show next week with some of his repurposed military flatbeds, one of his best-selling items.
He’s new in the industry, having established his company in 2010, but he had experience as a mechanic for a local trucking company in Parker City.
After spending six years keeping trucks on the road, and time behind the wheel, he worked at a dealership in Indianapolis and then moved to Fort Wayne before settling in Markle, a town in Huntington and Wells counties that had a population of 1,095 in the 2010 census. It lies along Interstate 69, U.S. Route 224, Indiana State Road 116 and Indiana State Road 3.
Branham took every available opportunity to learn everything he could about the transportation industry before he decided to start a business of his own. He recently added a second building to his operation.
“Our goal is to buy and remarket equipment locally, nationally and internationally,” he explained. “We strive to get the proper equipment in the hands of the people who need it.”
Branham works with heavy duty trucks and conventional trucks with sleepers and works on four categories of trailers: dry van, dump, flatbed and reefer.
While the company’s primary area of expertise is with semi-trailers, he will sell semi-tractors on demand. “If we know your needs, we can locate equipment for you,” he said.
“We also have the ability to ship overseas.”
