Ohio horse rescue operation to survive after owner dispute

SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) — A temporary home for rescued horses in northern Ohio appears to be getting a new life itself. A co-owner of the stables near Sandusky had been worried it might be forced to close because of a business dispute.
But Linda Hillenbrand says her daughter and son-in-law submitted the winning bid for the stables this past week during a sheriff’s sale at the Erie County Courthouse in Sandusky.
Hillenbrand tells the Sandusky Register that there won’t be any change in the rescue operation. She takes in horses that no longer have a home and then adopts them out. She has about a dozen rescue horses up for adoption now.
She estimates that she’s helped 70 to 75 horses over the years.
