IOWA April 11-14: The American Feed Industry Assoc. will host a hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) training April 11-12 and a FAMI-QS Awareness in Feed Safety course immediately following, April 13- 14, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Des Moines Airport in Des Moines, Iowa. The HACCP training is accredited by the International HACCP Alliance. The FAMI-QS program is benchmarked against the European Commission feed regulations, which allows for exporters and importers to gain entry into new international markets with greater ease and success. May 10-July 11: Dreaming of managing your own green acres? The University of Tennessee Center for Profitable Agriculture will offer “Considerations for Beginning Farmers” at several dates and locations across the state. The fullday workshop is designed for those with little or no farming background. Cost to attend is $25 per person, which includes the program and lunch.
