Candidates announced for Illinois commodity boards
 
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Agriculture has released the names of the candidates slated for three commodity board elections, which are scheduled for July 6.

Producers are encouraged to vote to determine members of the Illinois  Corn Marketing Board, Illinois Sheep and Wool Marketing Board and Illinois Soybean Program Operating Board. Voting is eligible to anyone who produces and markets commodities of these respective boards.

Ballots may be cast at county Cooperative Extension Offices during regular operating hours. It is important to note that the following offices will be closed on July 6: Edwards, Gallatin, Perry and Jersey (closing at noon). To request an absentee ballot, email David Humphreys at David.Humphreys@Illinois.gov

The director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture must receive the absentee ballots by 5 p.m. on July 3. Following is a list of commodity districts holding elections this year, followed by the counties they include and candidates’ names and hometowns.

Illinois Corn Marketing Board

•District 1: Boone, McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, Cook, DuPage, Kendall and Will counties; candidates Pat Dumoulin of Hampshire and Glenn Ginder of Peotone

•District 4: Whiteside, Lee, Bureau, Stark, Marshall and Putnam; Mark Wilson of Toulon

•District 7: Woodford, McLean, Dewitt, Macon, Piatt and Moultrie; James A. Reed of Deland

•District 10: Scott, Morgan, Sangamon, Greene, Jersey, Calhoun and Macoupin; Bill Long of Franklin

•District 13: Marion, Clay, Richland, Lawrence, Jefferson, Wayne, Edwards, Wabash and White; Don Duvall of Carmi Illinois Soybean Program Operating Board
