Aug. 12: The annual DeKalb County (Ill.) Barn Tour will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT, this year showcasing barns in the Waterman-Shabbona, Ill., area. The tour is a driving tour of barn sites hosted by the DeKalb Area Agricultural Heritage Assoc. and the JF Glidden Homestead & Historical Center. Aug. 17: The University of Illinois’ Agronomy Day 2017 will begin at 7 a.m. at the Crop Sciences Research and Education Center South First Street Facility, 4202 S. 1st St., Savoy, Ill. This year’s event features a tour of the Energy Farm and presentations from faculty within the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) and the Department of Crop Sciences. Topics include pest, nutrient, and weed management strategies, drone data, economics, water quality, and more. College of ACES Dean Kimberlee Kidwell will speak during the noontime program. July 6-9: One of the nation’s biggest events promoting awareness and education of the American Indian culture, National Powwow XVII, will be at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex, Danville, Ind. Sept. 12-14: The American Feed Industry Assoc.’s 46th annual Liquid Feed Symposium will be in Louisville, Ky. The University of Tennessee Center for Profitable Agriculture will offer “Considerations for Beginning Farmers” at the Madison County UT-TSU Extension Office, Jackson, Tenn.
