Volunteers join Habitat ‘ag build' at this year’s Indiana State Fair
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity returned to the Indiana State Fair for its eighth annual “Agriculture Build.” Habitat partnered with Indiana’s agriculture community to build two homes for two deserving families in 14 days.

Construction began on the two Habitat homes on August 4, opening day of the fair. Over the next 14 days, more than 800 local agriculture industry and community volunteers from 30 sponsors dedicated more than 4,000 hours to complete the build alongside future homeowners, Sebastian Quintero and the Espitia-Hernandez family.

Both families completed more than 300 hours of sweat equity, including financial and home maintenance classes, and hours spent helping to build their home and other Habitat homes.

As the only affiliate in the country to build a complete home from floor to roof at a fairground, in addition to building house number 10 and 11 during the 2017 Indiana State Fair, thanks to continued sponsorships within the Indiana agriculture community, Greater Indy Habitat is also excited to be celebrating its 30-year anniversary since founding in 1987.

fter each home was dedicated to its family, the houses were moved to permanent locations in the Near North neighborhood. Dow AgroSciences, Wells Fargo Bank and The Kroger Co. led the team of about 30 Indiana businesses and organizations to build this year’s Habitat homes. Dow AgroSciences and Kroger have sponsored the Ag Build at the Indiana State Fair for the past eight years.
