Auction to benefit Indiana FFA programs
By MEGAN KUHN
Assistant Editor

TRAFALGAR, Ind. — Visitors to the Fort Wayne Farm Show next week will have the chance to support a worthwhile youth program and go home with some useful items through the annual Indiana FFA Benefit Auction.

The auction starts at 1 p.m. during the first two days of the farm show, January 17 and 18, according to Dawn Davis, development specialist for the Indiana FFA Foundation. It is held in the lobby area of the Coliseum.

“Money raised through the auction helps to fund leadership programs for FFA members across the state of Indiana,” said Davis. The items will be placed on the auction block with the help of Schrader Auction Services. Indiana FFA members, including state and district officers, will also be on hand to work the auction.

“The Indiana FFA has been fortunate to receive several donations for our benefit auction,” said Davis. “Ag businesses have been generous with their contributions this year.”

Dave Dickerhoff of Dickerhoff Electric, Inc. donated a 7.5 kW PTO Generator valued at $2471 for this year’s auction. In addition, the FFA has received donations of seed, chemical, gift sets, advertising, toys, apparel, travel packages and equipment parts. Some companies, including Williamson Insurance Agency, Ousley Insurance and Midwest Bio-Tech, Inc., gave a cash donation directly to the Indiana FFA Foundation.

“To date, we’ve received nearly $10,000 in contributions for the auction,” Davis added. “We are grateful for the contributions. Without the faithful support of these donors, the auction would not be possible.”

If there is a company who would still like to donate an item or service to this year’s auction, contact Dawn Davis at 317-878-5513.
