Display space still available for Kokomo’s Harvest Expo

KOKOMO, Ind. — Some of the latest and greatest farm equipment will be on display at the 2018 Harvest Expo August 8, at the Kokomo Event & Conference Center.

The free event runs from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., with a sit-down lunch at noon. RSVPs are required, as the expo is not open to the walk-in public.

"We try to bring the newest technology," said Jill Henderson, expo coordinator and store manager of the Frankfort Tri Green Tractor location. "We will have brand new John Deere equipment and 12 months of technology we feel we need to share with the farmers."

Various Deere tractor and combine attachments will be displayed, including the newest platform in corn heads and the latest tillage tool, Henderson said. Other small-line vendor equipment will be shown by Unverferth, Fast, Exide, 360 Yield and others.

In addition, Soil and Water Conservation District personnel from various counties will be available for questions.

"We also have two 45-minute classroom discussions on topics ranging from the growing season we're having, to how the seed was planted and where the harvest will be (in Tri Green's 11-county north-central Indiana service area)," Henderson said. "We'll talk about all the data and what it means, safety (and the like).”

Of course, there will be the usual walk-around for the newest Deere combines. "We have certified technicians excited to show off the brand," she explained. "They'll talk about broken shafts, wear-and-tear items to replace, the early harvest we're expecting and other topics."

This is the sixth year Tri Green Tractor has organized the expo, she said. "Each year it gets larger and larger ... Fifty years ago we called it 'John Deere Day.'

“After the 2011 merger (of locations in Flora, Frankfort, Logansport and Swayzee and, later, Lafayette), we decided to have one centrally located event and called it the expo."

The Kokomo Event & Conference Center is off Indiana State Road 931 (1500 N. Reed Road) between Morgan and North streets. Those still hoping to display their wares inside or outside at the expo have until July 25 to reserve a spot.

To RSVP for the event or secure a display area, call Tri Green Tractor at 765-654-6612 or send an email to jhenderson@trigreentractor.com
