Hahn to chair Farm Foundation board of trustees
OAK BROOK, Ill. — Richard Hahn of Omaha, Neb., has been elected chair of the Board of Trustees of Farm Foundation. He succeeds Sara R. Wyant, president of Agri-Pulse Communications. Barry Flinchbaugh of Kansas State University was named vice chair. The election took place at the Board’s annual meeting June 7 in Canandaigua, N.Y.
Established in 1933, Farm Foundation does not lobby or advocate. Its primary product is comprehensive, objective information on economic and public policy issues.
Hahn was first elected to the Farm Foundation Board of Trustees in 2002 and was reelected to a second five-year term in 2007. Flinchbaugh was first elected to the board in 2001 and reelected in 2006.
Hahn retired in 2005 as president and CEO of Farmers National Co., but continues to work part-time in real estate sales. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Hahn started his professional real estate and farm management career at Metropolitan Life. He served two years of active duty and 28 years of active reserve duty in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1991 as a captain.
NAIDC elects board members, executive committee
PHILO, Ill. — The North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge (NAIDC) board of directors elected new members on June 3. This includes Devin Albrecht, director of marketing for Prairie State/Select Sires in Hampshire, Ill. He was a member of the steering committee that established the Midwest Regional Dairy Challenge and now serves as its vice chair.
In addition, Todd Kranz of Dublin, Ohio, division manager with ABS Global, Inc., was elected to complete the unexpired term of board member Hap Allen of Shawano, Wis.
Members of the NAIDC Executive Committee for 2008-09 include Finance Chair Bruce Clark of Northstar Cooperative in Coldwater, Mich., and Media and Public Relations Chair Cherie Bayer of American Jersey Cattle Assoc. in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Continuing NAIDC board members include Miriam Weber-Nielsen of Michigan State University in East Lansing.
The North American Dairy Challenge was established in 2002 as a management contest to incorporate all phases of a specific dairy business. VeraSun names three new plant managers
BROOKINGS, S.D. — VeraSun Energy Corp. announced it has promoted three employees to plant manager positions. Gabe Corey, Kent Holzer and Pat Hogan have each been promoted from their previous positions as operations manager at their respective ethanol biorefineries.
Corey will oversee the VeraSun Woodbury, Mich., plant, while Holzer will be the plant manager for Janesville, Minn., and Hogan will lead Dyersville, Iowa.
A native of Linden, Mich., Corey began his career at the Woodbury facility in August 2007. Prior to joining the Woodbury team, he spent almost six years working for The Andersons, Inc., most recently as production manager for the company’s Albion, Mich., ethanol production facility.
Corey started at the Albion facility in January 2006 as the production supervisor before moving into the production manager’s role in October of the same year. Corey holds a bachelor’s degree in agriscience with an emphasis in crop and soil science and a specialization in environmental studies from Michigan State University. He is currently working toward an MBA from the University of Toledo. |
