CAPS picks Harris as senior manager
LISLE, Ill. — Capital Agricultural Property Services, Inc. (CAPS) has hired Tim Harris, AFM, as a senior manager, joining the company’s Lisle office. He will report to Royce Bryant, AFM, CAPS regional vice president based in Memphis, Tenn.

Harris, from Princeton, Ill., has extensive grain and livestock experience from 20 years in the dairy business. He became involved with farm management in 1995 and received his Accredited Farm Manager designation from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in 2001. He is also an Illinois real estate broker.

He will be managing farmland and handling real estate transactions for clients in Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois from his office in Princeton. Harris is involved with local activities, including serving as a trustee for Greenfield Retirement Home, on the board of directors for the Bureau County Health and Wellness Clinic, in the Princeton Community Band and as an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church where he served as a church chair.

More recently he was chair of the 2008 Bureau County United Way campaign and is now co-chair of the Princeton Theater Conservatory School fundraising campaign.

DTN hires Sanow as grains analyst
OMAHA, Neb. — DTN announced it has hired John Sanow as grains analyst. Sanow will play a key role in DTN’s industry-leading newsroom, providing daily analysis and editorial content regarding grains markets, including corn, soybeans and wheat. In addition, his market commentary will be featured in the DTN Closing Market Comment, a daily online video analyzing the day’s grain market activity.

Sanow brings an extensive, hands-on background in both agriculture and grains trading to the DTN newsroom. Early in his agricultural career, he served as a grain elevator manager for local cooperatives in North Dakota and South Dakota. Later, he joined the DTN team as a farm sales representative. Most recently, Sanow was a commodity broker with R.J. O’Brien.

Sanow earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in agribusiness management from Southwest State University in Marshall, Minn.

Miller wins annual Red Gold Reichart award

ELWOOD, Ind. — Red Gold, Inc. of Elwood presented Phil Miller of Walton, Ind., a plaque naming him winner of the E.A. Reichart Quality Achievement Award to honor him as Tomato Grower of the Year.

Miller Farms was chosen from a select group of nine master
growers, picked from 51 growers for Red Gold. Miller also received his third Red Gold Master Grower award. Winners received specially designed sweaters, watches, attachés, jackets and year plates in recognition of their achievement in growing high quality tomatoes, exhibiting industry leadership and professionalism.

The Miller family has been growing tomatoes for Red Gold for over 60 years. This year’s production from Miller Farms would account for nearly 20 million cans of Red Gold whole, diced, stewed and specialty tomato products.
