Fourth generation in charge of Illinois’ McCullough Implement

WATSEKA, Ill. — For four generations, the McCullough family has served Iroquois County and more with a wide variety farm equipment – tractors, harvesters, planting equipment, tillage equipment, hay and forage equipment, chemical applicators and more.

Brands McCullough Implement carries include AGCO, Bobcat, Gleaner, Great Plains, Killbros, Kinze, Kubota, Landoll, Sunflower, Unverferth, White and Woods. The business sells new and used equipment, offers rentals, equipment on lease, farm buyouts and consignment programs.

Farm apparel and toys also are for sale in the store.
“My great-grandfather, T.J. McCullough, signed that first contract with Allis-Chalmers in November 1939,” said P.J. McCullough. His cousin, Steve McCullough, serves as the general manager.
P.J. said the business has been in the same location, but the building has been expanded several times. “We had the advantage of having farmland behind the dealership,” he said.

Several offices today are located in what was once the tractor shop.
“We’re talking of adding another building in the next couple of years to house 24-row planters. They’re 60 feet wide, so we need at least a building 100-by-80. “All the equipment is so much bigger,” he said.

While they look forward to the Midwest Ag Expo Illinois, P.J. said the business does not have its own booth.

“It’s a lot of hassle to get equipment there. It’s a rough time of year and requires a lot of clean-up when we get it back to the shop,” he explained. Instead, McCullough staff mans other vendor booths.

“We wouldn’t miss it. It’s a good opportunity to meet with customers,” he said.
