Strong competition in Kentucky State Fair’s open dairy shows

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Exposition Center rolled out the green shavings for the open dairy shows Aug. 16-17 at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville. Two days of solid shows kept the vision of the ideal dairy cow in the eye of visitors to the event. 
The Ayrshire show was entrusted to Steve McDonald of Illinois, and he tapped Bricker Farms Raven Cadila as his Grand Champion and Senior Champion of the show. She was exhibited by Kurt Wolf, Epworth, Iowa.
The Reserve Senior and Reserve Grand Champion went to Kleins Pokers Teah exhibited by Klein Farm, Milton, Ind. In the heifer show, Junior Champion went to Old Bankston Misdemeanor exhibited by Neal Smith of Smyrna, Tenn., while Reserve Junior Champion was Mill Valley Gunner Maggie exhibited by Mill Valley Farms, Sidney, Ohio.
Fairdale Farm of Owenton, Ky., dominated the Brown Swiss show, exhibiting four of the six champions. Sean Johnson of Pennsylvania eyed up the Swiss show, selecting Kruses Victor Judy exhibited by Fairdale Farm as his Grand Champion. Fairdale Banker Joanna, also exhibited by Fairdale Farm, was named Reserve Grand Champion while Fairfield Farm’s Bridges Whistle Wonderworks was named the Intermediate Champion. The Reserve Intermediate Champion was Blessing Agenda Nicki, exhibited by Ally Jones, Glasgow, Ky.  Johnson liked Waldeck Vigor Matilda exhibited by Ariel Waldeck, Upton, Ky., for his Junior Champion, and Fairdale Supreme Wambam ETV exhibited by Fairdale Farm as his Reserve Junior Champion.
The Guernsey show was judged by Michael Heath of Maryland, and he chose Adams Creek MM Anisa-ET, exhibited by Nicley Livestock, Parksville, Ky., as his Grand Champion and Senior Champion.  The Reserve Senior and Reserve Grand Champion honors went to Sniders Tillers Amagine-ET also  exhibited by Nicley Livestock. BHG Kupid Peppy, exhibited by Brand Setter Farms of Summer Shade, Ky., was tapped as the Junior Champion, while the Reserve Junior Champion went to Berryman Farm Victory Vickie, exhibited by Tyler Berryman, Nicholasville, Ky. 
Mike Berry of Washington traveled to Kentucky to take on the Jersey show. Berry liked Ohio-bred Miss Triple T Serenity-ET exhibited by Triple-T Holsteins and Jerseys of North Lewisburg as his Grand Champion and Senior Champion.  Next he chose KCJF Iatola Attitude exhibited by Keightley and Core, Salvisa, Ky., as his Reserve Grand Champion and Intermediate Champion.  The Reserve Senior Champion was TJ Classic Moment Layla, exhibited by TJ Classic Jerseys, Ansonia, Ohio, and the Reserve Intermediate Champion was also exhibited by Keightley and Core, and she was KCJF Connections Contend. The Junior Champion was DKG Vindication Passion, exhibited by Mill Valley Farms, Sidney, Ohio, while Reserve Junior Champion honors went to ZJF Tequila Bella, exhibited by Zike Jersey Farm, Morristown, Ind.
Sunrose Jess, exhibited by Sunrose Holsteins, Millersburg, Ind., not only was named Supreme Champion at the Indiana State Fair but she was also tapped Grand Champion of the Kentucky Holstein Show by Illinois native John Erbson.  The Reserve Senior and Reserve Grand Champion also went to an Indiana cow, Burks Branch G-Wyn Fara, exhibited by Lookwell Farm, Elkhart. Erbson tapped Strans-Jen-S Tempt-Me-Red, exhibited by Triple-T Holsteins and Jerseys, North Lewisburg, Ohio, for his Junior Champion, and Reserve went to Sunrose Juliana, exhibited by Sunrose Holsteins, Millersburg, Ind.
Mike Halpin of Illinois was on hand to sort through the Milking Shorthorn show, and he selected Innisfail Ro Lady 7088 Exp, exhibited by Lattire’s Twilite Farm of Lawrenceburg, Ind., as his Grand and Senior Champion. Halpin then tapped Michaels Nitro Chili, exhibited by Jeremy Kinslow, Smith Grove, Ky., as his Reserve Grand and Reserve Senior Champion. The Junior Champion banner went to Molehill Zevs Bellie, exhibited by Taylor Graves, Perryville, Ky., while Reserve Junior Champion was Gibbs Lirano Capene Exp ET, also exhibited by Taylor Graves.
The Red and White show was judged by John Erbson, and he liked the solid red Winterfield Adv TemperRed, exhibited by Rocky Run Farms, Greensburg, Ky., as his Grand and Senior Champion. Erbson went ahead and tapped Greenlea Adv Maemary Red, exhibited by Grant Randle, Zionsville, Ind., as his Reserve Senior and Reserve Grand Champion. 
In the heifer show, Kentucky Bluegrass Genetics of Eminence, Ky., took home the Junior Champion title with Milksource LD Teagin-Red, and the Reserve Junior Champion was Kinslows Apple 364 Red, exhibited by Jeremy Kinslow, Smith Grove, Ky.
